About

Jenny Zhang is a PhD student in Artificial Intelligence at the University of British Columbia, advised by Jeff Clune, and a graduate student at the Vector Institute. She is a research scientist intern at Meta, and earned her BEng in Computer Science from Imperial College London. Her research focuses on open-endedness, reinforcement learning, and self-improving AI, with the goal of building systems that autonomously generate and solve new, interesting tasks to develop increasingly complex capabilities. Jenny's work includes the OMNI framework, which leverages models of human interestingness to construct adaptive training curricula, and the Darwin Gödel Machine, a self-improving system that evolves its own code through open-ended exploration and foundation models. Through these lines of work, she aims to create agents that continuously learn, adapt, and innovate, laying the groundwork for truly open-ended, self-accelerating AI systems.
